Bebai - Father of Zechariah

Bebai, a descendant of Bebai (Patriarch of Returnees), was the father of Zechariah who led his family to return to Jerusalem with Ezra. 

NOTE
After the fall of Babylon, the return of the Jews to their homeland lasted over 100 years. During this time we see the continuous mention of this family of Bebai along with numerous other families. It is likely that the names were held by multiple chiefs that carried on the family line. It is also possible, that when the covenant was signed "Bebai" near the end of this century of events, an honorary title was used to represent the entire family. It could very well have been Zechariah that sealed the covenant with his family's name since he was listed as the head of the Bebai family just 14 years prior to the signing.
