When investigators of a crime want to understand what happened and what led to a particular event, they take note of where everyone was located and what they were doing in the events leading up to and shortly after the crime that was committed. We can investigate God's Word the same way to get a better understanding of what led people to sin or to follow God. We will also see how the people around us can influence our decisions or how we can influence theirs... for good or ill. Doing so will give us more details on what to expect if we find ourselves heading down the same kind of roads that others have taken before us. It can warn us of repeating past mistakes, and it can prepare us for new challenges that can be overcome with God's help.
