Philistine Bird from Gath

It's always exciting to find beauty buried in the ground. This was certainly the case while archaeolgists were unearthing history in the ancient city of Gath (the city of Giants and home of Goliath). The design on this potsherd (piece of pottery) features a bird in a style commonly associated with the Philistines. It is dated to the time of the kingdoms of Israel about a 100 years after David slew Goliath.
