Eber - Shem's Great Grandson

Noah's son, Shem, is said to be the father of all the children of Eber, and during the time of Eber's son, Peleg, the earth was divided into many nations. The meaning of Eber's name means "those who cross", and it was Abram/Abraham that crossed the Euphrates river into the land of Canaan where the Hebrew people began. Abraham, a descendant of Eber, was known as the Hebrew.

It is interesting that many names along the genealogy of Jesus seem to be prophetic of things to come.
