Two Variations of the Name "Goliath"

Gath "Goliath" Inscription

One of the more interesting finds from Gath (Goliath's home town), is this inscription dated to ~1000-850 BC or about 100 years after David slew Goliath. Inscribed are two names, both of which resemble the name "Goliath". This gives validity to the name, the time frame and the location of a person(s) named Goliath.

The digs happening at the ancient city of Gath have mostly been for the city that was fortified by Judah. A 2019 report mentions that they are just now getting to the layer from the time of David and Goliath. However, they are already seeing larger-than-usual building materials crop up.
